This bottle is a basket-wrapped, heavy ceramic saké bottle, to better survive the vagaries of the river. I hope this one makes it to the Gulf of Mexico!

Vision
Nostrums Gallimaufrey was thrown into the mighty Mississippi River on October 24, 2016, by Shannen Swope, from the river bank at Alton, Illinois. The inspiration behind this bottle, for the letter "N", is associated with Pennsylvania (three "N"s). Shannen (three "N"s) is an honorary family member; she was a caregiver to my husband's father, Ed before his death, and the years preceding. On the property of Little Bit Farm, in Pennsylvania–where Ed used to live– and where Shannen lives now, there is a rural beauty–the bucolic farmland is simultaneously inhabited by wild snakes and gorgeous tiger lilies. There is a beautiful stream on the property with a small waterfall, and the witch in the lower left hand corner is a cheeky nod to Shannen's enjoyment of the show "Charmed".
The nudibranch crawling in the upper left hand corner is a nod to Shannen's love of the ocean. And all the nostrums are indicative of the essential care that she gave Ed in his last days, giving him comfort that he did not always accept easily or gracefully; but it made an enormous difference for us knowing that he was safe in her kind care.
