Vision

This bottle was thrown into the East River of NYC from a water taxi. Hymenoptera (the third-largest order of insects, comprising the sawflies, wasps, bees, and ants.) Hammam was inspired by the letter "h". Wasps and bees colonize a hammam, the picture of which had an architectural structure that reminded me of a bee hive or wasp nest. The hammam is full of flowers, which denote a feminine energy, as does the central character with a honeycomb crown, and even the word "hymen" in "hymenoptera"; but the image overall is uneasy with a strange masked figure, the specter of being stung, an angry bear, and the claustrophobia of being around so many insects and highly pollinated blooms in an enclosed area.
